Parent company Morningstar was incorporated in 1984. In December 2009, Logical Information Machines (LIM) began operating as a subsidiary of Morningstar. In November 2011, LIM was rebranded as Morningstar Commodity Data.
Company history
In 1984, Joe Mansueto founded Morningstar with the aim of making mutual fund analysis and commentary available to individual investors. In December 2009, Morningstar acquired Logical Information Machines (LIM) – a data and analytics provider for the energy, financial, and agricultural sectors. Morningstar subsequently relaunched LIM’s products under the Morningstar brand name; LIM became known as Morningstar Commodity Data in November 2011.
